Get Links, Get Results
Links to your website are a great thing. They improve your search engine rankings dramatically. They also direct crawlers and people to your website.

One Way Ticket
A common way to increase links to your site is to swap links with other websites (reciprocal linking). You scratch their back, they scratch yours. Doing this is good, but not as effective as a link that goes one way: directly to you.

Enter: One Way Linking
Search engines know that One Way Links mean a site is reputable and that it contains valuable information. They are more effective than a reciprocal links because Search engines place less weight on link relationships they know may be contrived. It's much more difficult to get links to your site without returning the favour, and in fact, most very good sites will be linked to without even trying, simply because people refer to their content so often. This is why a one way link is rated so highly.

There are a few solutions available that offer you one way links as a paid service. Quality ones can be expensive, but there are a few factors to watch out for:
  1. Don't get a 1000 links to your site immediately. It's widely assumed that this can be flagged by search engines as a black hat practice.
  2. Some one way linking services may be part of rings or networks that have little weighting, or are of very little relevance to your content. This can make them less effective.
  3. Links from malicious or spammed sites may have a negative effect on your website.

So, ensure that you receive links that are relevant to your site, are from a reputable source, and try to avoid getting a service that dumps a large quantity of links to you straight away. You don't always need lots of links to get improved results. Two or three links from relevant, well-established, and high traffic sites can add real weight to your search engine results.
